R2 ANOMALOUS AXILLARY SHOOT GROWTH IMAGE

The following images are of a sample taken from the beginning of the banjo arm on R2 where it
entered into the circle.  We noticed new growth springing from the 2nd node, which seemed
unusual given this field was totally brown and dry with no moisture at all.  Also these 'growths'
were only found in the formation area.  Nothing like them existed out in the control areas.

The sample was separated from its roots when extracting it and wrapped in paper and labeled. The next day it appeared that the new growth had grown some.  Throughout the days after it continued to grow with no water or light and completely separated from its root.  Over the period of 5 weeks to when these images were taken, the main growth grew to 25 cm long, and new growths began to spring from the other nodes.  It continues to grow to this day still without water or light.
